The Greener Electron is a green-energy personal-finance blog for US homeowners. This privacy policy explains in plain language what information this site collects and how it is used.
What we collect
Newsletter (Kit/ConvertKit). If you subscribe to the “Greener Electron Newsletter Signup” form, we collect your email address so we can send you the newsletter. That is the only information the form asks for. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email, and we will stop emailing you.
Analytics (Google Analytics via MonsterInsights). We use MonsterInsights to run Google Analytics 4 on this site. This collects anonymized usage statistics about how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed. It uses cookies and does not identify you personally. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.
Cookies. This site uses cookies for basic site functionality and for the analytics described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work if you do, but some features may behave differently.
Comments. Comments are closed on this site, so we do not collect any comment data.
Accounts and payments. This site has no user registration and processes no payments, so we do not collect account details or payment information.
How we use your information
We use newsletter email addresses only to send the newsletter you signed up for. We use analytics data only in aggregate, to understand what readers find useful and improve the site. We do not sell your personal information.
Your data rights
You can ask us at any time to see what personal information we hold about you, or to delete it. To make a request, contact us through the site, and we will respond to reasonable requests.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the “last updated” date above and post the revised policy on this page.
